Michel Langevin to run for Parti libéral du Québec in Chapleau

Michel Langevin will run for the Parti libéral du Québec in Chapleau in the next provincial election expected this fall. The Cogeco 104,7 FM morning host is set to face Mathieu Lévesque, the current minister of the Regions and CAQ member in the riding.

Centre Slush Puppie

The Parti libéral du Québec planned a 9 h 30 news conference at the Centre Slush Puppie to announce its candidate in Chapleau. The timing left little room for doubt about the party’s intent to formalize Langevin’s entry into the race.

Le Droit first revealed the nomination, and Radio-Canada sources later pointed to the same candidate. Langevin had not personally confirmed his candidacy when Radio-Canada contacted him, but the 104,7 FM team said he wanted to serve his community under a new platform.

104,7 FM

Langevin’s move is notable because he is already a familiar local voice on Cogeco’s 104,7 FM morning show. That familiarity now carries into a contest against a sitting cabinet minister in Chapleau, where the seat is held by Lévesque.

Cogeco’s station management in Outaouais said it saluted Langevin’s exceptional dedication and wished him luck. For listeners, the shift means the morning host is moving from a studio role into a provincial campaign that will test whether his local profile can translate into votes in Chapleau.
