BMO backs Moose Hide Campaign with 20,000 pins and donation

BMO distributed approximately 20,000 Moose Hide pins across Canada as it supports the moose hide campaign for a third year. The bank is pairing that effort with a donation and online and in-branch activations ahead of Moose Hide Campaign Day on May 14, 2026.

Paul Lacerte on BMO support

The Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-led effort to end domestic and gender-based violence against women and children, particularly Indigenous women and children. Paul Lacerte, the campaign's co-founder, said the partnership reaches beyond sponsorship.

“We are grateful to BMO for walking alongside us in this work. This partnership is not just about support, it's about shared responsibility and a commitment to ending violence against women, children, and all those along the gender continuum. Together, we are creating space for ceremony, for reflection, and for people across this country to step forward in a good way and be part of the healing our communities are calling for,” Lacerte said.

BMO workplaces and branches

BMO said employees across its workplaces and branch network will wear Moose Hide pins throughout the month of May 2026. Each pin is estimated to spark five meaningful conversations about gender-based violence, accountability and respect, giving the campaign a presence inside branches as well as in the wider community.

The pins are small squares of moose hide that are ethically sourced or donated and hand-made by Indigenous women. Wearing one is described as a visible act of advocacy and allyship, which turns the campaign's message into something staff can carry in public and at work.

Michael Bonner on 2026 partnership

Michael Bonner, who serves as head of Canadian Personal & Business Banking Distribution, head of BMO Enterprise Indigenous Strategy and co-chair of the BMO Indigenous Advisory Council, said the bank is continuing the partnership this year. “Guided by our Purpose, to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life, we are honoured to continue partnering with the Moose Hide Campaign in 2026. As an Indigenous led movement committed to helping end gender-based violence and advance human rights, we are proud to help continue this important work,” he said.

Bonner also said, “By distributing and wearing Moose Hide pins, thousands of BMO employees are taking an active role in advocacy by sparking conversations, standing in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples and Survivors, and reinforcing our shared responsibility to help create safer communities.” The practical effect for readers is straightforward: the campaign's message is now being carried through BMO locations nationwide before Moose Hide Campaign Day on May 14, 2026.
