Fortnite Zero Build gets 1HP splat change from Epic Games
Epic Games is removing lethal fall damage from fortnite zero build and Battle Royale, replacing instant death with a splat animation that leaves players at 1HP. For Zero Build players, the update matters most: big drops while closing distance or escaping pressure will no longer end a run on impact.
1HP replaces instant death
The splat state freezes a player in a recovery animation and strips away shields, so the fall does not end the fight by itself. One shot from any weapon will still finish the match, which keeps the punishment in place without making the landing the final mistake.
Battle Royale and Zero Build
The mechanic applies to both standard Battle Royale and Zero Build, according to the HYPEX leak. That gives the change a wider footprint than a mode-specific tweak and makes it part of a broader update to how Fortnite handles vertical risk.
Epic has no rollout date
Fall damage has killed players in Battle Royale since day one of Fortnite, and the new setup answers one of the game’s oldest frustrations without removing combat danger. Epic Games has not yet announced an official rollout date, so players still do not know when the 1HP splat state will hit live matches.
