The FBI has announced a $200,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of monica elfriede witt. Witt is charged with espionage for Iran, and federal officials say she is residing in Iran.

Witt's 2019 indictment
A 2019 federal indictment said Witt allegedly defected to Iran in 2013 and provided sensitive national defense information. The FBI said she remains at large, and the reward now puts a dollar figure on the search for information that could lead investigators to her.
Witt was a former U.S. Air Force intelligence specialist and special agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. She served in the military from 1997 to 2008 and worked as a U.S. government contractor until 2010, giving her access to secret and top-secret information related to foreign intelligence and counterintelligence.
FBI details on Monica Witt
The FBI posted that Witt is a native of El Paso, Texas, weighs 120 pounds, stands 5 feet 6 inches tall, has no other alias and is known to speak Farsi. The agency also said she had access to the true names of U.S. intelligence personnel in undercover roles and that her information could empower the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Wierzbicki said, “The FBI has not forgotten and believes that during this critical moment in Iran's history, there is someone who knows something about her whereabouts,” and added, “The FBI wants to hear from you so you can help us apprehend Witt and bring her to justice.” The reward makes the case a public call for location information, with investigators looking for anyone who can help place her now.
