Ryan Giggs Backs Chelsea Vs Man Utd Move for Cole Palmer

Ryan Giggs has backed a Chelsea vs Man Utd move for Cole Palmer, saying the 24-year-old would fit Manchester United’s attack. The former United midfielder argued the club need more than Bruno Fernandes to carry the creative load, with Palmer viewed as a possible summer target.

Giggs on Palmer and United

“Yeah, he would, Manchester lad.” Giggs said that on a Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube show when asked whether Palmer would suit United. He added that Palmer could play off the right or at No.10, a fit that matters because United are looking for more options in the final third.

His broader point was even sharper. “But yeah, we talk about [Rasmus] Hojlund and [Benjamin] Sesko, it’s only really Bruno who is creating things time and time again.” Giggs then spelled out the problem United are trying to solve: “What if Bruno has a bad day or he’s injured? You need three or four players in your squad who can make things happen for these players to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Cole Palmer and Chelsea

Palmer has not fed the speculation. In an interview with, he said: “Everyone just talks.” He also said, “When I see it I just laugh.”

The Chelsea forward added: “Obviously Manchester is my home.” He went further: “All my family are there, but I don’t miss it.” Palmer added, “Maybe I’ll miss it if I don’t go for three months or something.” He finished the thought with: “But then when I get home I think there’s nothing there for me anyway.”

Wembley and the contract

Saturday brings a different focus first. Palmer is set to feature for Chelsea against Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley, where he has posted ten goals and three assists in 31 appearances in all competitions this term.

After that, the talk is likely to return to his future. Chelsea are adamant that Palmer will not be sold before his contract expires in June 2033, so any United move would have to run into a hard stance from a club with little incentive to deal.
