Meteo Montreal: Julien Chartrand sees 24 degrees for long weekend
Meteo Montreal points to a first warm spell in Quebec starting Friday, with temperatures expected to rise above seasonal norms through the long weekend. Julien Chartrand, a meteorologist at Environment Canada, said Saturday will be a great evening to watch hockey outside as the weather improves.
Maximums are expected to range from 20 to 24 degrees in several areas of southern Quebec. Chartrand also said, “Ça va donner un peu d’espoir puisque ça n’a pas été très beau dernièrement.”
Southern Quebec temperatures
The forecast puts the warmup squarely on a three-day weekend when many people will be outside.
He said the change also marks the end of the colder spring pattern.
The timing lines up with the Canadiens de Montréal’s first Saturday-night playoff game of the year. Several municipalities have already announced outdoor giant-screen viewings for that game, giving the warm spell an immediate use for people planning to gather outside.
After May 20, highs around 19 degrees are expected, before a gradual return to more summerlike weather as June approaches.
Tuesday warmth ahead
The warm weekend is not the only notable shift. Temperatures could reach nearly 30 degrees in some places on Tuesday, extending the stretch of milder weather beyond the holiday period.
For readers making plans, the practical window is Friday through the weekend: outdoor events, garden work, and hockey watch parties should all have better conditions than the 12-degree days that Chartrand said are now over.
