Busick was evaluated and released from the care center onsite at Dover after the incident. She later covered the NASCAR Truck Series race on Friday night, even after being hurt in the pit-road accident.

Busick said Williams “saved my life” after the cart slammed into the scene with little time to react. She described the moment as “less than half a second, maybe a second,” and said she could see him trying to brace the cart before it surged past him.

Donovan Williams Hospital Return

Williams was working as a tire changer for Spire Motorsports’ Truck team on Friday while also serving as a Hendrick Motorsports pit crew member. He was hospitalized with minor injuries, including a laceration to his right buttock and severe road rash to his right hand.

He was released from the hospital on Friday night. On Saturday, Williams said doctors expected him to make a full recovery, and he described the episode as “really traumatic” and one of the scariest moments of his life.

Busick said the cart collected both of them and pushed them about five to 10 feet. Williams later said the cart clipped him as he moved her out of the way and that he felt “very, very blessed” the outcome was not worse.

The incident came after the NASCAR Truck Series qualifier at Dover, turning a routine pit-road setting into an emergency that left both people hurt. Busick kept working through the night, while Williams’ injuries were serious enough to send him to the hospital before he was discharged Friday night.
