Donegal crash kills two men and injures four at Clar

Donegal police said two men were killed and four other people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at Clar shortly after 2pm on Saturday 16 May 2026. The crash happened on the main Donegal-Ballybofey road outside Donegal Town, and the road stayed closed while investigators examined the scene.

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 20s were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. A man and a woman in their 40s from the second vehicle were also being treated there with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators were due to carry out a technical examination of the scene while the road remained closed. Gardaí asked anyone who saw the collision to come forward.

Witnesses and camera footage

Road users who were on the N15 between 1:30pm and 2:30pm were asked to make dash-cam or other camera footage available to investigating Gardaí. Six people had already lost their lives on Donegal roads so far in 2026, adding weight to the inquiry into what happened at Clar.

For drivers who passed through the area that afternoon, the practical step is direct: check for any usable footage from that one-hour window and share it with investigators. That is the evidence trail Gardaí are now trying to build around the crash.
