Metropolitan Police Launches Urgent Probe at Windsor Castle Security Of Windsor Castle
The Metropolitan Police has launched an urgent investigation into a number of officers on protective duties at Windsor Castle after allegations that they fell asleep on duty and left their posts unattended. The force said the case involves security of windsor castle and that it is being handled by its directorate of professional standards.
Metropolitan Police Probe
The officers were responsible for protecting the Royal Family at Windsor Castle in Berkshire. The Met said the alleged behaviour falls below the high standards expected of officers, particularly in frontline protective roles.
The force also said the directorate of professional standards would assess whether those under investigation should be placed on restricted duties. A decision on that step is expected before the end of next week.
Independent Office Informed
The Metropolitan Police said the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed, but the matter will be investigated locally by the Met. That leaves the force’s professional standards unit in charge of the immediate inquiry and any employment restrictions that follow.
The allegations place the focus on officers assigned to a royal residence, where unattended posts raise questions about how the duty shift was managed and who will remain on those assignments while the probe continues. The next operational decision is whether the officers stay on unrestricted duties or are moved aside while the investigation runs.
