Chivu Starts Bonny and Lautaro in Inter - Hellas Verona

Inter - Hellas Verona moved into view with the official lineups for Sunday 17 May at 15:00, and Cristian Chivu named Bonny and Lautaro in his starting XI. Inter entered the penultimate-round Serie A match after already winning the league and the Coppa Italia, while Hellas Verona came in already relegated.

Chivu’s Inter Selection

Inter lined up in a 3-5-2 with Sommer in goal behind De Vrij, Acerbi and Carlos Augusto. Luis Henrique, Diouf, Sucic, Mkhitaryan and Darmian filled the midfield line, with Bonny and Lautaro up front.

The choices point to a rotated side at a stage of the season when the points picture had already been settled. Inter also planned a title celebration after the match, with an open-top bus tour to the Duomo.

Verona Under Sammarco

Hellas Verona matched the same 3-5-2 shape with Montipò; Nelsson, Edmundsson and Valentini; Belghali, Lovric, Gagliardini, Bernede and Frese; Suslov and Bowie. Sammarco’s team had two league matches left to finish the season after a 1-0 home loss to Como in its previous game.

Verona’s situation gave the match a different edge from Inter’s. Sammarco had won only one match since taking over, and the lineup showed a side trying to close out a relegated season against the league champion.

Calzavara at San Siro

Andrea Calzavara of Varese handled the game in his first year in Serie A. Born in 1993, he had already worked Sassuolo-Torino and Parma-Pisa during the season, with Costanzo and Passeri as assistants, Collu as fourth official, and Santoro and Giua on VAR duty.

DAZN was set to show the match exclusively live, giving viewers a final look at a fixture built more on lineups and context than on the table. For Inter, the selections fit a team that had already banked two titles; for Verona, they marked one of the last steps before the season ended.
