Brandon Pridham Leaves Maple Leafs After 12 Seasons

brandon pridham is out of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization after 12 seasons, ending a run that began as a special assistant to the GM in the 2014-15 season. The team announced on Sunday that he and assistant GM Derek Clancey have left, a move that trims another familiar piece from a front office already in flux.

Pridham’s departure cuts into the club’s cap-management side at a time when the Maple Leafs have been working through a wide turnover in hockey operations. He had been promoted to assistant GM in 2018-19 and stayed in that role ever since, giving him a long runway through several different decision-makers.

He served under four different GMs: Dave Nonis, Lou Lamoriello, Kyle Dubas, and Brad Treliving. When Toronto fired Treliving, Pridham was briefly elevated to interim GM alongside AGM Ryan Hardy until John Chayka arrived full-time, a stretch that showed how deeply he had been embedded in the organization’s day-to-day structure.

John Chayka Statement

John Chayka said in the team’s Sunday statement, “Brandon has played an integral role in the organization over the past 12 seasons” and “We are sincerely appreciative of Brandon's professionalism, commitment, and dedication to the Maple Leafs throughout his tenure.”

Chayka also said, “Derek also brought valuable experience and insight to our hockey operations department during his time with the club” and “We thank both Brandon and Derek for their contributions to the organization and wish them and their families all the very best moving forward.”

The current front office now lists Hardy, Hayley Wickenheiser, and Darryl Metcalf as AGMs, with Shane Doan and Mats Sundin also part of the broader change around the club. Pridham is expected to pursue a GM job elsewhere, and his exit leaves Toronto without one of the executives who stayed through multiple regimes.
