PGA of America Raises 2026 Pga Championship Payout to $20.5 Million
The pga championship payout jumped to a record $20.5 million on Saturday, giving the 2026 field at Aronimink Golf Club a larger prize pool than last year’s $19 million total. The increase sets the scale for 82 players who made the cut, with seven-figure checks at the top of the board.
Aronimink Golf Club Field
The winner at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa., will receive $3.69 million. Second place pays $2.214 million, third pays $1.394 million, fourth pays $984,000, and fifth pays $820,000.
Players who missed the cut received $4,300 each. That leaves the weekend group carrying the full weight of the payout sheet, with the top five spots alone accounting for more than $8 million.
Saturday Payout Breakdown
The purse announcement came before the final round, which was scheduled for Sunday from 1-7 p.m. ET on CBS. Alex Smalley started that round with a two-shot lead at six under.
Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler were among the players within a few shots of the lead, keeping the final day tied to both the trophy and the money attached to it. The payout table now gives every shot at the top of the leaderboard a direct dollar value, with the winner’s share nearly doubling the fifth-place check.
For the players still in position to climb, the margin between places is immediate and sharp: $1.476 million separates first from second, and $1.19 million separates second from third. The numbers turn the final round into more than a race for the title; they define the money on the line for the entire weekend group.
