Shea Busch's 3 Goals Lift Everett to 2026 Memorial Cup Title Run

Shea Busch scored three times and the Everett Silvertips beat the Prince Albert Raiders 7-2 in Game 5 to win the 2026 memorial cup race for the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Everett captured the first WHL championship in franchise history and finished a 16-2 postseason run.

Busch Drives Game 5

Busch, a Florida Panthers prospect, delivered the kind of finish Everett needed in the final game of the 2026 WHL Championship Series presented by Nutrien. His three goals helped put the Silvertips past the Eastern Conference champions and close out the series in five games.

Prince Albert had pushed the championship to a deciding fifth game, but Everett handled the pressure with a four-goal margin. The 7-2 result gave the Silvertips the Ed Chynoweth Cup and ended a run that had already included a sweep, a five-game series, and another sweep.

Everett's 16-2 March

The title came after Everett swept the Portland Winterhawks in four games in the first round, then beat the Kelowna Rockets in five games before sweeping the expansion Penticton Vees in the Western Conference Championship. The Silvertips went 8-1 at home and 8-1 on the road in the postseason, a split that left them steady no matter the building.

Everett also carried the weight of a 57-8-2-1 regular season and a second consecutive Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy. Steve Hamilton, named WHL Coach of the Year, won his first championship as a head coach after earlier titles as an assistant coach in 2012 and as an associate coach in 2014 with the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Silvertips' Core Pieces

Julius Miettinen posted 27 points in 18 playoff games, and the Seattle Kraken prospect added to a season in which he had career highs of 35 goals, 41 assists and 76 points in 52 regular-season games. Landon DuPont, 16 years old, scored 23 points in 18 playoff games, while Anders Miller handled all 18 playoff games in goal and finished the postseason 16-2.

The roster also included Carter Bear with 22 points, Matias Vanhanen with 24 points, and five NHL drafted prospects. Tarin Smith was knocked out of action after four playoff games, but Everett kept rolling behind a group that carried the same pace from the regular season into the bracket and finished with the franchise's first WHL title.
