Costco Agio-menlo Swing Recall Hits 18,500 Over Seat Detachment
Costco agio-menlo swing recall covers about 18,500 swings after the seat could detach from the frame while in use. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the hazard creates a fall risk tied to serious injury or death.
That recall includes eight injury reports, and the injuries included head and arm impact injuries. For people still using the swings, the practical change is immediate: the product is now part of a wider set of recent recalls affecting items sold by major retailers including Costco, Amazon, and Target.
Eight Injury Reports
The reported detachment problem is the most direct evidence behind the action. The CPSC said it had received eight reports of injuries after the seat detached while in use, which moved the issue beyond a design complaint and into a documented safety hazard.
The agency’s description also puts the risk in concrete terms: a seat that separates from the frame can lead to a fall, and the injuries reported so far included impacts to the head and arm. That makes the recall more urgent for any customer who still has the swing assembled outdoors or in storage for later use.
Costco and Other Retailers
The swing recall sits alongside other recent actions involving consumer products sold through major retailers. About 200 pool drain covers were recalled for violating Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act entrapment protection standards, and about 16,260 Generac and DR electric-start pressure washers were recalled after a prior 2022 recall of 53,000 units.
Those pressure washers were recalled because the start and stop button can malfunction and self-start. The CPSC said there have been six incidents of the machines self-starting, though no injuries or property damage have been reported for that issue to date.
Other Recent Recalls
Additional recalls included about 102,430 pull-string teething toys because the silicone strings are longer and smaller than allowed under mandatory toy standards, and about 125,200 Cosyland-branded children’s tower stools because a child’s body could fit through openings on the front and back sides. Around 25,235 Guidecraft kitchen helper towers were also recalled because the platform can loosen over time, becoming unstable or detaching.
The CPSC has received 11 reports of children falling from the Guidecraft towers and three injuries, including a bloody nose and bruises. It also said the Cosyland stools led to 25 incident reports and eight injuries, including scrapes, cuts, and a fractured arm. Around 2,900 Amazon adjustable dumbbells were recalled because the weight plates may fail to engage fully and can dislodge during use, and the agency said it has eight reports of plates dislodging with no injuries reported.
For shoppers, the immediate takeaway is simple: stop using the recalled swing and check other recent recalls if the item came from Costco, Amazon, or Target. The documented injuries show the swing detachment problem is already beyond a theoretical risk.
