Simi Valley Fire Burns 1 to 2 Acres, Threatens Hailey Court Homes

A simi valley fire burned between one and two acres Monday after crews responded to a fast-moving vegetation fire in Simi Valley. Homes on Hailey Court were reported to be under threat as wind pushed the flames through light to medium vegetation.

The fire broke out on the 600 block of Sandy Avenue and spread rapidly toward Hailey Court and Rudolph Drive, according to Watch Duty. Evacuations were ordered in multiple parts of Simi Valley.

Hailey Court and Rudolph Drive

Crews faced a fire that moved quickly enough to threaten nearby homes while firefighters were still working to hold it in check. The burn area had reached between one and two acres as the fire continued to spread in windy conditions.

For people near Hailey Court, Rudolph Drive, and the 600 block of Sandy Avenue, the immediate issue was the evacuation footprint. The fire had already pushed beyond its start point and toward residential streets, leaving crews to protect homes while the area remained active.

Royal Avenue Warning Zone

Officials ordered evacuations in the Rambling Road area around Casual Court and Rocking Horse Drive. A Level 3 evacuation warning was also issued from the intersection of Royal Avenue and Tapo Canyon Road in the north to the end of Royal Avenue, and south to the Wood Ranch Open Space and the Rancho Simi RPD Open Space.

That warning zone stretched across both residential streets and open space, giving residents a wide area to move out of danger. The order covered more than one neighborhood, not just the homes closest to the flames.

Sunday Calls Across California

The Simi Valley fire came after fire crews across parts of California dealt with a surge in emergency calls over the weekend during Red Flag Warning conditions, strong winds, and heavy travel. Emergency responders attended 111 separate incidents on Sunday, ranging from vegetation fires and medical emergencies to downed trees, fallen power lines, and traffic collisions.

For residents in the warning area, the practical next step was to follow the evacuation orders tied to their street and zone rather than the fire’s size alone. The flames had already shown they could move fast, and the most immediate risk sat along the line between Sandy Avenue, Hailey Court, and the Royal Avenue warning zone.
