David Mitchell Launches @mitchellandwebbofficial With 6-Week Sketch Rollout

david mitchell and Robert Webb have launched @mitchellandwebbofficial, an official global YouTube destination built to carry their sketches beyond television windows. The channel starts with multiple weekly drops from Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, while a new YouTube-only series will push the archive and the current run into the same feed.

@mitchellandwebbofficial opens

The channel will initially feature sketches from Channel 4’s Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, with the material aimed at international audiences discovering the pair for the first time. Seasons of the show will continue airing on Channel 4 in the UK and HBO Max in Australia, so the YouTube rollout adds another route to the same comedy rather than replacing the existing one.

That split matters because the duo are not starting from zero. Mitchell and Webb first found fame in the UK with Peep Show, then made That Mitchell & Webb Look and Channel 4’s Back. Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping is effectively a continuation of That Mitchell & Webb Look, which gives the new channel a ready-made back catalogue and a current series that can feed it.

Big Talk and WME Creator Labs

The YouTube strategy was forged by That Mitchell & Webb Company and long-time producing partner Big Talk Studios, with WME Creator Labs partnered on the development, launch and ongoing management of the channel. Kenton Allen said, “Long before streamers and social platforms transformed audience behaviour, Mitchell and Webb were creating sketches that people wanted to quote, share and rediscover repeatedly.”

Allen also said, “The global demand for this material is potentially enormous, so our ambition with this channel is to create the definitive destination for one of Britain’s greatest comedy double acts.” That is the clearest statement of the business logic here: the sketches are being treated as reusable library assets, not one-off TV clips.

Three sketches, one new series

The new YouTube-only series, Mitchell & Webb Talk About Some Sketches in a Pretend Room, will revisit, dissect and discuss the recent series. It will look at how Sweary Aussies, Bad Therapist and Middle-Aged Man Island came into being, giving the channel a second layer of content beyond simple uploads.

Last year, Mitchell and Webb returned to sketch comedy with Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, and the series became Channel 4’s most-watched new scripted comedy for six years. The channel launch extends that momentum to a global audience, while the TV run keeps its place in the UK and Australia. For viewers, the practical change is simple: the sketches now have a dedicated online home, and the duo are building a route for new fans to discover the work without waiting for a broadcast slot.
