Liverpool Kit Revives 1989-90 Look With 2026-27 adidas Release
Liverpool kit has a new face for 2026-27, and it pulls directly from the adidas strip worn in the club’s 1989-90 title-winning season. The release ties a current drop to a side that finished nine points clear at the top of the First Division.
Dalglish era returns
Liverpool FC and adidas unveiled the home shirt with Sir Kenny Dalglish at the center of the story, since he managed the title-winning side that inspired it. The original 1989-91 strip became linked with Liverpool’s record-breaking 18th league title, and the new version brings that look back in a deep red base with a contemporary all-over graphic.
White detailing runs across the club crest, adidas logo and trims. The 97-emblem, encased by the eternal flames, sits at the nape of the neck on the reverse of the jersey. The shirt is finished with deep red shorts and socks, while the goalkeeper kit uses the same design in a Liverpool green colourway.
Rush, Barnes and Wirtz
The launch campaign bridges past and present. Ian Rush, John Barnes, Alan Hansen and Bruce Grobbelaar appear as they did in 1989, alongside Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Grace Fisk and Faye Kirby in the new strip. Alisson Becker also models the new goalkeeper top.
The name and number style follows the club typeface introduced last season, keeping the new build aligned with Liverpool’s current visual identity. That gives the shirt a clean link between the historical reference and the modern squad wearing it now.
On sale now
The Liverpool adidas 2026-27 home kit is on sale now at the official LFC Shop, with Fanatics and adidas also carrying it. The launch also includes a domestic training range, anthem jacket, DNA culture wear collection, stadium range, hats and accessories.
Season Ticket Holders, All Red Full, Light and Junior members receive a 10 per cent discount, so the first practical step for buyers is simple: the shirt is already available, and the wider release gives supporters more than one place to buy into the same 1989-90 revival.
