Phoenix Weather turns wetter Sunday with showers and thunderstorms
phoenix weather stays dry across Southeast Arizona through Saturday night, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops Sunday afternoon into Monday, mainly east and southeast of Tucson. Early Tuesday could still bring lingering precipitation chances near the New Mexico state line before drier conditions return by the middle of the week.
Sunday morning starts warm in much of the region. Tucson is forecast to wake up near 65 degrees, many communities in Pima County are expected to remain in the 60s, and Sierra Vista is forecast near 59 degrees, with Sasabe and Green Valley in the 50s.
Tucson and Pima County
The shower and thunderstorm chance stays limited at first, with the main window running from Sunday afternoon into Monday. The forecast points to the greatest chance east and southeast of Tucson, then says those chances could linger early Tuesday near the New Mexico state line.
High temperatures stay close to normal through next week, and Sunday still turns hot. Tucson is expected to reach 96 degrees, while communities across Pima County climb into the 90s. Sierra Vista is forecast around 86 degrees, and many surrounding communities in Cochise County are expected to warm into the 80s.
East of Tucson
Breezy winds are expected east of Tucson Monday and Tuesday, then more widespread breezy to windy conditions are expected across Southeast Arizona Wednesday and Thursday. That sequence follows the short window for showers and thunderstorms, with drier weather returning by the middle of the week and continuing into next weekend.
For residents along the Tucson-to-New Mexico corridor, the practical change is the timing: dry through Saturday night, a slight storm chance Sunday afternoon into Monday, and only a small carryover near the state line early Tuesday before conditions dry out again.
