Heriberto Hernández, Liam Hicks Power Marlins' 4-0 Sweep

Heriberto Hernández ended it in the ninth, and liam hicks was part of the rally that set up the swing. His grand slam off Devin Williams gave the Miami Marlins a 4-0 win over the New York Mets on Sunday and finished a three-game sweep.

Hernández Breaks Through

It was Hernández’s first big league walk-off hit. The ball traveled 416 feet over the center-field wall, turning a scoreless game into a final that also closed out Miami’s first sweep since its opening three games against Colorado.

Christopher Morel started the inning with a double against Williams, then Javier Sanoja sacrificed, Liam Hicks walked and Xavier Edwards was intentionally walked. That sequence loaded the bases before Hernández connected for the game-ending grand slam.

Williams and Scott

The finish also snapped a strong run for Williams, who had not allowed a run in his previous 10 appearances before Hernández’s homer. Miami needed only one swing after a ninth that kept building pressure on the Mets’ bullpen.

Christian Scott held Miami to four hits in a season-high 5 2/3 innings, but the Mets never scored. They were shut out for the sixth time this season and have scored one run or none in 15 games, numbers that left them empty again after a game in which Tyler Phillips gave Miami 3 2/3 innings and four hits allowed on the other side.

Marlins Finish the Sweep

Pete Fairbanks stranded a runner at second in the ninth to preserve the shutout before Hernández finished the job at the plate. Connor Norby left after taking an 85.6 mph fastball from Scott in the fourth inning and leaving with left elbow discomfort.

The Marlins completed the sweep and kept the Mets stuck after a game that moved quickly to a one-swing ending. For Miami, the result matched the cleanest kind of finish: no runs allowed, one ninth-inning swing, and three wins in three games.
