DFDS Withdraws Jersey-Guernsey Summer Service After Rejection | Dfds Inter-island Ferry Suspension
DFDS has withdrawn its proposed summer dfds inter-island ferry suspension between Jersey and Guernsey after Guernsey's Committee for Economic Development rejected the route. The company had planned to use Stena Vinga on the service, which would have linked a Friday evening departure from Jersey to Guernsey with an onward sailing to Portsmouth.
The reversal leaves booked customers facing changes to their travel plans. DFDS said affected customers were being contacted directly and would be offered refunds, while the return leg had been designed to bring passengers back to Jersey on Monday afternoon.
DFDS and Guernsey
DFDS said it remained open to further discussions about future inter-island connectivity and said it believed there was value in improving links between the islands. The withdrawn proposal was for a summer service only, with the specific outbound and return pattern set around weekend travel.
The company did not keep the capacity idle. It said it would add sailings to St Malo on 6 July, 20 July, 3 August, 17 August and 24 August, replacing some of the dates that had been reserved for the Jersey-Guernsey service.
St Malo Sailings
DFDS also said it would add an extra sailing on 2 July for passengers travelling to the Le Mans 24 hour classic motorsport event in France. That addition gives some affected passengers another route option, but it is not a like-for-like replacement for the inter-island trip that was removed after the rejection.
For passengers who had planned around the summer island crossing, the immediate step is to wait for DFDS's direct contact and refund offer. The change removes the only planned Jersey-Guernsey summer sailing from the schedule, and the company is now shifting demand toward St Malo and Le Mans instead.
