Mid to high level clouds filled the sky early Tuesday morning, and the cold air mass pushed in through the day.

Lake, the chief meteorologist for News Channel 3-12, said the change trimmed daytime warmth and shifted the region into a cooler stretch that lasts into mid-week.

Winds, surf, and drizzle

The wind advisory at 2pm and the high surf advisory at 5pm put two separate hazards on the clock for the same afternoon.

Most beaches were expected to stay dry, even with the chance of misting and drizzle from the marine layer early Wednesday morning.

Spotty showers and thunderstorms were likely around the Kern County border by Wednesday evening, with rain amounts expected to stay below a tenth of an inch.

Coolest day on Wednesday

Wednesday was forecast to be the coolest day of the week, with a mix of clouds and sun and the cold air mass parked over the Central Coast.

Below-average temperatures were expected to continue Thursday, with some pop up light rain inland before rain chances dropped back to zero after breakfast.

A weekend warming trend was expected to begin Friday, with temperatures returning to beach weather by the weekend.
