Highfield House postpones Sunday May 25 dog show — Swindon Weather

Highfield House postponed its charity dog show on Sunday May 25 because of swindon weather expected to bring extreme heat to Halesworth. The event was due to run from 11am to 1pm at the care home on London Road and was set to raise funds for Norfolk Greyhound Rescue.

Highfield House and London Road

Highfield House said the show was moved “due to the extreme weather we are expecting”. The care home had planned the event for Sunday May 25, but organisers opted to pull it before the bank holiday weekend’s hotter conditions arrived.

The forecast included a spell of hot, sunny weather across the East of England. Temperatures were expected to sit widely in the high 20s and could exceed 30C in parts of the region as the bank holiday progressed.

East of England heat alert

An amber heat health alert was issued for the East, with conditions said to pose a risk to vulnerable people. That alert sits alongside the forecast heat and explains why organisers chose not to keep the dog show on its original timetable.

The event’s charitable aim also shifted the decision from a simple schedule change to a wider welfare call. Highfield House had planned to collect money for Norfolk Greyhound Rescue, but the show will now return later in the summer.

Norfolk Greyhound Rescue date

Organisers said a new Saturday date will be confirmed. For anyone planning to attend, the practical change is straightforward: the Sunday May 25, 11am to 1pm slot at Highfield House on London Road is off, and the replacement date has not yet been set.
