Alexis Hernandez, Nolan Perry Lift Vancouver Canadians to Weekly Honors
Alexis Hernandez and Nolan Perry gave the vancouver canadians a rare double on the Northwest League weekly awards board for May 18-24. Hernandez was named Player of the Week, while Perry took Pitcher of the Week, pushing the club to five weekly award winners and six total league distinctions in 2026.
Hernandez’s 12-for-25 week
Hernandez went 12-for-25 in six games and produced a.480/.517/1.040 slash line with a 1.557 OPS. He added five doubles, three homers, six runs scored, 10 RBI and three walks, the kind of week that changes a season line fast.
The 23-year-old from Tinaco, VZ, also hit the fourth Canadians grand slam of the year on Friday at Avista Stadium, where all four of the club’s grand slams had landed at that point. His season average rose 42 points, and his year-long OPS jumped from.737 to.886.
Perry’s five scoreless frames
Perry’s award came from one start on May 20, when the 22-year-old earned the win with five scoreless innings. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out 10, and he retired the first nine batters he faced.
The strikeout total was his second straight outing with 10 punchouts, and the honor added to his mid-April recognition as Florida State League Pitcher of the Week. That puts him on a short list of Vancouver pitchers who have already stacked up league notice twice in the same season.
Canadians keep piling up awards
The two honors also keep the Canadians at the top of the Northwest League’s weekly award count in 2026. Five weekly winners and six total league distinctions are a strong marker for a club still in the middle of the schedule, and this week Hernandez, Perry and the Canadians are back at The Nat to face the Eugene Emeralds.
For a lineup and rotation already drawing league notice, the next question is whether the production holds once the week ends and the standings grind resumes. Hernandez has already reset his season line, and Perry has shown he can run up double-digit strikeouts in back-to-back outings.
