Niharika Bijli Brings Rocketman to Pride Film Festival May 29
PVR INOX is bringing back the Pride Film Festival on May 29, 2026, and rocketman is in the lineup. The one-week run will spread across 20 cities and 40 cinemas, giving the chain a tightly scheduled showcase for titles that are usually hard to find on a large screen.
Niharika Bijli on inclusion
Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist at PVR INOX Ltd., framed the festival as part of the company’s broader programming push. “Cinema has always been a powerful medium for empathy, identity and dialogue.”
She added, “At PVR INOX, we believe storytelling has the ability to foster inclusion and celebrate diverse voices, and this festival is a reflection of that commitment.”
Moonlight and Baapya join
The slate also includes Moonlight and Baapya, with Bijli saying, “We are proud to bring back globally celebrated titles such as Moonlight and Rocketman, as well as Baapya, a story from the heartland of India.” That mix gives the festival both international recognition and an Indian title rooted in a different regional context.
PVR INOX says the Pride Film Festival is part of its ongoing effort to honour exceptional talents and landmark films from India and around the world, while also reviving older titles for audiences seeing them again and for viewers who missed them the first time.
20 cities, 40 cinemas
The practical details matter most for anyone planning a visit: booking information and theatre listings will be available soon on the official PVR INOX app and website. With the rollout limited to one week, the festival creates a short window rather than a prolonged run, and the 40-cinema footprint means availability will depend on local listings.
Bijli said the company hopes the festival “sparks conversations and reminds audiences of the transformative power of cinema.” For moviegoers, that means the next step is simple: watch the app and website closely if rocketman, Moonlight, or Baapya are the titles they want to catch in theatres.
