Simón Quiñones destaca 500 empresarias en Acapulco

More than 500 women entrepreneurs from several states began the XXIII Congreso Nacional de la Asociación Mexicana de Mujeres Empresarias in acapulco on May 27, 2026. The meeting opened at Expo Mundo Imperial with an estimated 1,000 room nights and more than 15 million pesos in economic spillover for the city.

Simón Quiñones Orozco, titular de la Sectur Guerrero, said the gathering will project Acapulco’s recovery and tourist development. He also recognized Amexme’s national leadership and the Guerrero chapter for holding the congress in the port city.

Ivett Bonifaz Famania said the event will also boost the destination’s economy and generate jobs for families who work at the host venue and in other tourist businesses. Her comments tied the congress to spending that reaches beyond the meeting rooms and into hotels, restaurants and other local services.

Quiñones also pointed to the role women play in tourism, saying that women make up 54.2% of the country’s tourism labor force, based on figures from the federal tourism ministry and the national employment survey. In his remarks, he said tourism in Mexico includes women business owners, hoteliers, restaurant operators, travel agents, artisans, traditional cooks, tour guides and leaders who strengthen the experience in destination cities.

That economic footprint helps explain why the congress was paired with a tourism message. Liliana Palomares Bataz said attendees will be able to visit La Quebrada, Sinfonía, the Museo Histórico de Acapulco, Fuerte de San Diego and the beach zone while they are in the city.

Acapulco visitors

For Acapulco, the immediate test is whether the congress converts those room nights and visitor movements into spending across the host venue and nearby businesses. The event has already put a measurable number on that activity: more than 500 participants, 1,000 room nights and more than 15 million pesos in expected impact.
