Crews Contain Tesla Fire After Barn Destroyed Near Cross Roads — Livermore Fire
Crews contained a livermore fire that destroyed a barn and damaged another structure Wednesday afternoon near Tesla and Cross roads in Livermore. The blaze broke out around 2:30 p.m. on property near several wineries, including Leisure Street Winery, and moved through dry grass and vegetation.
Tesla and Cross Roads
CAL FIRE and Alameda County firefighters arrived to find two barns and surrounding vegetation engulfed in flames. The fire was known as the Tesla Fire, and officials said combustible items inside one of the barns exploded while crews battled the blaze.
Neighbors heard multiple loud pops during the explosions. At one point, a fireball burst before thick, dark smoke billowed into the air and could be seen for miles.
Wednesday Afternoon Response
The fire burned for about five hours before crews brought it under control. No injuries were reported, even as the damage spread across property adjacent to several wineries in the area.
The cause remains under investigation. For people with barns, equipment, or vineyard property near Tesla and Cross roads, the immediate concern is the condition of nearby structures after a blaze that reached more than one building before crews stopped it.
