Stewart Lee returns to Laughterama with five-night Castlefield Bowl run

stewart lee’s Laughterama returns to Castlefield Bowl in Manchester from 2 to 6 September for its fifth annual event, a five-night run built around a bigger line-up and a £29 ticket price. The open-air comedy festival now brings over 10,000 comedy-lovers through the gates each year.

Castlefield Bowl dates

Five nights give the festival more room to spread demand across the week, and that matters for an event that has moved from a 2022 launch into an annual fixture. The move back to Castlefield Bowl keeps the show in the same outdoor setting that has carried the brand from its first edition to its fifth.

£29 is the entry point for this year’s tickets, which places the festival in a relatively accessible bracket for a live comedy event with multiple names across the bill. For Manchester audiences, the draw is less about a single headliner than the ability to buy into a whole run at a fixed price.

Will Briggs line-up

Will Briggs, the producer with 57 Festivals, said, "We’re thrilled to be returning to Castlefield Bowl with our biggest line-up yet." He added, "Every festival we’ve done here has been electric and this year’s is set to be an all-time great!"

Jack Dee, Nick Mohammed, Sarah Pascoe, Fern Brady and Nina Conti are all on the line-up, joined by Vittorio Angelone, Kiran Saggu and Jen Nolan. Briggs also said, "There’s so many incredible acts on each show and we cannot wait to get started".

2022 launch

The festival first launched in 2022, when James Acaster, Aisling Bea and Josh Widdicombe were among the names on the bill. That debut set a base for the event’s return as a five-night Manchester outing rather than a one-off booking.

Over 10,000 comedy-lovers now attend each year, which puts Laughterama in the category of a recurring live date with real scale rather than a niche club run. For readers deciding whether to buy in, the practical call is straightforward: the dates are set, the venue is fixed, and the current bill is already broad enough to justify a night at Castlefield Bowl.
