Maria Costello Moves to UK After Brandish Crash — 2026 Tt Races Sidecar Suspension
Maria Costello was transferred to the UK for treatment after the 2026 tt races sidecar suspension was triggered by her crash at Brandish during Tuesday’s qualifying session at the Isle of Man TT. Organisers said she was in a “serious but stable” condition after first being taken to Noble’s Hospital on the Isle of Man.
Brandish Crash on Tuesday
The incident happened shortly before 21:00 BST on the closing lap of the evening session, about two miles from the start-finish line on the 37.7-mile circuit. Costello, a sidecar competitor and regular entrant in both solo and sidecar classes, was taken by Airmed with reported head injuries for assessment and treatment before the transfer to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool.
Shaun Parker at Noble’s
Shaun Parker was hurt in the same crash and is being treated at the island’s main hospital for chest, leg, arm and facial injuries. Organisers said he was “conscious and talking,” a brief but important sign after a wreck that left both riders needing hospital care.
TT Week Already Hit
The Tuesday crash produced the second red flag of the 2026 event, adding to a week that had already been disrupted on Monday when a solo motorcycle competitor crashed into a group of spectators and injured eight people. Costello’s transfer changes the immediate focus from the session itself to treatment and recovery, while the red-flag count shows how quickly the event has moved from racing to medical response.
For Costello, the next step is hospital care in the UK after initial treatment on the island. For Parker, it is continued treatment at Noble’s; for the TT, it is another reset after two separate incidents have already interrupted the opening week.
