Big Boss Diamond Sinks With 148 People on Board

The big boss diamond sank near Paradise Island on Friday, May 29, after taking on water in Akvaryum Bay. All 148 people on board, including 20 children, were evacuated safely.

The boat had gone completely under within one hour. A statement from the Muğla Governorship said there were no casualties, injuries, or health problems.

“Following the report, teams dispatched to the area coordinated the evacuation of our citizens on the boat, with the support of nearby boats.” The governorship said checks showed the passengers were safely brought to shore.

Rescue teams raced to reach the vessel after it began taking on water. The boat was described by its owners as the biggest pirate ship in Turkey, and it also operated as a family party boat for holidaymakers around several Turkish islands.

Big Boss Yagna plans

The boat operator later posted on Instagram story: “Dear guests and friends, thank you very much for asking and worrying about us.” The operator also wrote: “We are all safe and fine. Will fixed up Big Boss Diamond we will carry on our boat trips with Big Boss Yagna.”

One Brit who was onboard said he was “glad to be off it and alive.” Some passengers claimed the engine caught alight, but the cause of the sinking was not given in the verified facts.
