Wigan Warriors Face Hull KR In Saturday Wembley Final — Warriors Vs Hull Kr

Wigan Warriors and Hull KR meet in warriors vs hull kr at Wembley on Saturday, bringing together the two clubs that have owned the major domestic and international prizes since 2023. Wigan are the record 21-times cup winners, while Hull KR arrive after building their own trophy haul through 2025 and earlier this year.

Wembley and the cup run

Wigan reach the final after beating Wakefield in the last eight and then routing St Helens without conceding a point in the semi-finals. That run came after a mixed 2026 campaign that opened with seven straight wins before losses to Huddersfield, Castleford and St Helens in the Good Friday derby.

Matt Peet has leaned on Jack Farrimond while Bevan French has been absent, and Harry Smith has also been influential. The cup has given Wigan a cleaner route back to Wembley than their league form suggested they might find in the middle of the season.

Hull KR and Willie Peters

Hull KR come into the final with a different kind of pressure. They won a treble in 2025 and beat Brisbane earlier this year to collect all four trophies of their own, which turned this meeting into a clash between sides that have both already proved they can finish a season with silverware.

For Willie Peters, 2026 will be his final year at Hull KR. That detail gives Saturday another layer, because the coach who helped drive Hull KR into the same trophy conversation as Wigan will be trying to end his time there with another major prize.

Matt Peet at Wembley

Peet said, "To be remembered as a team, as a player, as a coach at a club like ours, you probably need to have a trophy on your team photo." He added, "We have that chance."

He also said, "I think the cup brings an emotional peak in the season and a break from the norm for everyone, players and staff," and, "You'd hate to watch it on TV, you'd hate to not be involved in these games."

Saturday gives both clubs the chance to add another line to a run that started with Wigan’s 2023 Grand Final win and has kept the domestic trophies moving between Wigan and Hull KR ever since.
