Trump Concert Rally Plan Draws 7 Dropouts in 48 Hours
Donald Trump is turning the trump concert fight into a political rally. He said he is ordering his representatives to look at the feasibility of an “AMERICA IS BACK Rally” on Wednesday in Washington, DC, after several performers backed out of a concert series planned for the United States’s 250th anniversary.
Seven of the nine featured musical acts dropped out within 48 hours. That left the summer celebration with a shrinking entertainment lineup and pushed Trump to float a replacement that would put him at the center of the event instead of the stage acts.
Seven Acts Gone in 48 Hours
Trump posted 25 times to his Truth Social account in the next two hours after arriving at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, at 11.08am. In one post, he wrote that he was thinking about bringing Donald J Trump to take the place of the “highly paid, Third Rate Artists” and give a major speech.
He also wrote, “I don’t want so-called ‘Artists’ that get paid far too much money, who aren’t happy,” and added, “I only want to be surrounded by Happy People, Smart People, Successful People, and People that know how to WIN.” He closed the idea with, “by copy of this TRUTH, I am ordering my Representatives to look at the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally on Wednesday, Washington, DC, same time, same location.”
Martina McBride Pulls Out
Martina McBride said on Thursday that she would not perform because she had been assured this was “a nonpartisan event” and that “that turned out to be misleading.” She had been scheduled to open the 16-day fair on the National Mall on 25 June, while Freedom 250 said the president will personally kick off the celebration at a previously unscheduled opening ceremony on 24 June.
The sequence leaves the event with two competing identities: a concert series built for the nation’s 250th anniversary, and a rally Trump wants to use to replace it. That is a cleaner fit for his political brand than a half-empty entertainment lineup, but it also means the celebration is already changing shape before the fair even starts.
Freedom 250 and the Mall
Freedom 250 said the Wednesday in question is 24 June, and Trump said, “Only Great Patriots invited — It will be a Wild and Beautiful Celebration of America!” The practical question for the event now is not whether the music returns, but whether the National Mall opens with a rally instead of the concert series that was meant to launch the celebration.
