Sam Levinson told Variety in April that he writes every season like it's the last season and said he had no plans for a possible Season 4. Zendaya carried that same message onto The Drew Barrymore Show, where she said Season 3 was likely to be the end and added, “Closure is coming.”
For viewers, that combination matters more than the network’s silence alone. When the creator says he is writing to an ending and the lead star frames the run as a possible close, the absence of a Season 4 pickup starts to look less like delay and more like strategy.
Season 3 Delay
Season 3 arrived nearly four years after Season 2, a stretch long enough to change the show’s business equation. The cast now includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer and Maude Apatow, all of whom have become highly in demand in film and television while the series has sat between seasons.
That is the friction point for another long shoot. Reassembling a cast with competing schedules is harder now than it was when Euphoria debuted on HBO in 2019, and the show has already shown how quickly outside delays can push the timeline out.
HBO Season 4
Angus Cloud died from a drug overdose in July 2023 at age 25, and Eric Dane died in February 2026 after being diagnosed with ALS, though Dane appeared posthumously in Season 3. Those losses leave the series with a different shape than the one it started with, and they narrow the path for anything beyond the current season.
HBO has still not said yes to Season 4. With the finale already marked as a season finale and the creator and lead star both pointing toward closure, the smart read is that Sunday’s ending is the most likely stopping point unless the network changes course fast.
