Lewis Evans Teases Big Risk as 12 Love Island Uk Islanders Arrive
Love Island UK opens tonight with 12 Islanders in the OG line-up, and ITV has already set the season’s starting roster. The new batch of singles is heading into the villa looking for love, but supervising executive producer Lewis Evans is leaning on a first-episode change that goes beyond the usual arrival format.
Lewis Evans said, "We're going to play into that this year, we can't say too much, but [in] the first episode we're changing things" and added, "We're doing something that we've never done before in the history of Love Island. We're going to take a big risk and we hope it pays off."
12 Islanders for Love Island 2026
12 Islanders make up the OG line-up this summer, with the group including a student, a teacher, a model and a real estate videographer. They come from different parts of the UK and Ireland, which gives the opening cast a wider mix of backgrounds before the series even reaches its first coupling.
Ope is looking for "energy, vibes and if you find my jokes funny," and said he will not be moved by "Negative energy, someone not here for a good time. I’m always up for a good time and having a laugh and having fun. There’s people who just love to dwell on the negatives." Lola wants "someone funny" and said, "I do like watching it but I don’t want to be a part of it. I’m really looking for love, I want a boyfriend again. I want to find someone who is actually the love of my life, like obsessed with me kind of thing. I think I’m missing someone who is obsessed with me!"
Samuel, Angelista, and Aidan
Samuel is after "someone classy, mature, blonde, fun, and someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously," and he said, "I’ve never really had to compete before, so it’ll be interesting. I know what I bring to the table, and I’m confident in what I have to offer. Like I said, I’ll go after what I want and hopefully score the goal." Angelista’s type is "tall, dark and handsome," and she warned, "Someone will take your man if you’re playing it safe at the back and you’ll watch it happen and that’s not nice. You have to read the room with the guy as well, to see if he’s feeling the same."
Aidan said he is looking for "personality" and made his standard plain: "Obviously, I know if I find someone physically attractive but if we’re not connecting, laughing, and having a good time, it just wouldn’t work for me." That is the friction in this launch: the show is starting with a larger-than-usual cast reveal and a promised format shake-up, but the real test is whether the opening gamble can hold attention once the villa starts moving tonight.
