RCMP Issues Active Shooter Alert in Pelican Narrows

RCMP Issues Active Shooter Alert in Pelican Narrows

RCMP issued an active shooter alert in pelican narrows on June 1, 2026, after reporting a health clinic in northern Saskatchewan was involved. Residents were told to find a safe location and lock their doors as police responded.

The suspect was unknown, and RCMP said there was no word on casualties. Police also asked people not to share police locations in the community.

Pelican Narrows checkpoint

The alert came after Pelican Narrows last week put a security checkpoint back at its entrance because of concerns about trespassing, trafficking and related violence. The community notice said everyone trying to enter would have to show valid identification.

Pelican Narrows is about 500 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, a distance that leaves the community far from the nearest large city while police deal with the alert on local roads and in the community itself.

RCMP response

The immediate instruction from Mounties was simple: get to a safe place and lock the doors. That directive, along with the request not to share police locations, suggests officers were trying to control movement and limit public exposure while the alert was active.

The report was first published June 1, 2026, and the facts available at that point stopped at the alert, the unknown suspect and the lack of information on casualties.
