Maja Chwalinska Tops Parry 6-3, 6-2 in Chwalinska Tennis run
Maja Chwalinska extended her chwalinska tennis run at Roland Garros with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Diane Parry on her main-draw debut. The qualifier reached the quarterfinals and became the first player from qualification to get that far in Paris since 2020.
Chwalinska Beats Parry
The 24-year-old saved the only break point she faced in the fourth game of the second set and did not drop another game after that. She has won seven straight matches in Paris and has conceded just one set so far, against Maria Sakkari in the third round.
That finish fit a run that has moved fast. Chwalinska is playing only her third Grand Slam main draw and her eighth WTA main draw in total, yet Roland Garros is already her second tour-level quarterfinal after Cluj-Napoca in February.
Anna Kalinskaya Next
Anna Kalinskaya waits in the quarterfinals after beating Anastasia Potapova in a 2-hour, 49-minute match. Both players are bidding for their first Grand Slam semifinal, so the winner will leave Paris one round from a breakthrough that neither has reached at this level.
Chwalinska is also the only Polish player left in the Roland Garros quarterfinals after Iga Swiatek lost to Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round on Sunday. She is Swiatek's former junior doubles partner, and she is now certain to make her Top 100 debut after the tournament.
Polish Quarterfinal Company
The result puts Chwalinska in a small group of Polish Grand Slam quarterfinalists in the Open Era, alongside Agnieszka Radwanska, Iga Swiatek and Magda Linette. Before this week, her career tour-level record was 6-7, and her best results had mostly come at WTA 125 level and on the ITF circuit.
She has already added a third WTA 125 title in Oeiras in 2025, and another win in Paris would secure a Top 50 place. For a player whose momentum toward the Top 100 had been slowed by depression and injuries, the next match now carries a ranking jump that is finally within reach.
