Wang Zyuan Found Dead on Saint Kitts And Nevis Trail

Authorities in saint kitts and nevis found the body of 33-year-old Wang Zyuan on Monday after the Chinese cruise ship passenger vanished while hiking the Mount Liamuiga trail on May 27. He had gone up alone and called 911 that afternoon to report that he was lost.

Police said crews lost contact with him after that call, and volunteers joined multiple agencies in a search that lasted for days. The body was found nearly a week after he disappeared.

Mount Liamuiga Trail Search

Mount Liamuiga rises on the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano and stands as the highest peak on St. Kitts at nearly 3,800 feet, or 1,200 meters. A Caribbean cruise ship company that advertises the trail warns that the hike is extremely strenuous and that the path can be muddy or slippery.

Wang’s disappearance turned that warning into the central fact for anyone using the trail: he was alone, he managed a 911 call, and then search teams had to work across difficult terrain before reaching him.

Police Investigation Continues

Police said they have not provided the cause of death and that the investigation is ongoing. That leaves the recovery as the only settled part of the case so far, even as authorities now have the body and can continue their inquiries around the trail and the last known contact on May 27.

For cruise passengers who use the route, the immediate takeaway is practical rather than abstract: the trail is not a casual walk, and the one confirmed next step in the case is the police investigation into what happened after the 911 call.
