Ally Hill stabbing leads Norwood prosecutor to seek no bond

ally hill was stabbed to death Tuesday at a Skyline Chili in Norwood, Ohio, and police took a suspect into custody near the restaurant. Hamilton County court documents identified Hill as the victim and listed 37-year-old Rick Wright as the man arrested for her death.

Police responded to 4588 Montgomery Road just before noon Tuesday, found the woman, and took her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Investigators said the case was isolated and posed no active threat to the public.

Rick Wright arraignment

Court documents and 911 calls identified Wright as one of Hill's ex-boyfriends. Court documents also show he had a warrant for his arrest tied to a probation violation after a February 2025 assault in which he allegedly tried to attack a Norwood police officer.

Wright was being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center without bond. During his arraignment Wednesday morning, Hamilton County Assistant Prosecutor Sarah McMahon asked the judge to refuse bond and told the court, "Your honor, I'd like to speak to the facts and the seriousness and the heinousness of this crime."

Hill family and coworkers

McMahon told the court, "A member of our community is dead. The victim in this matter's name is Alyssa Hill. She was a mother, she's a daughter, she was a co-worker and a friend." Kayla Elliot, a longtime friend, said Hill was "high-spirited, sweet, hardworking and independent."

Leah Chilton, a coworker, left flowers outside the restaurant on Wednesday and said, "You feel a heavy presence today in the office. Everybody's feeling it," as cards and flowers lined the doorway of the closed Norwood Skyline Chili location.

Elliot said Hill was a single mother who also cared for her father while working almost every day at Skyline for years. She added, "The loss has been heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved her" and "Her children and family meant everything to her, and the love she had for them was obvious in everything she did."

With the restaurant closed Wednesday and Wright held without bond, the court case now shifts to the next hearing phase while police and prosecutors continue the criminal case tied to Hill's death.
