Melanie Hyer Doral case ends with 4 dead, officials say
Ryan Charles Whiten, 42, was found dead with Melanie Hyer and their two daughters inside Hyer’s Doral home after police responded to a welfare check Tuesday night. In the melanie hyer doral case, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detectives said Whiten killed the family and then took his own life.
The dead were Hyer, 46, and their daughters, Savannah, 11, and Sienna, 8. Police said all four family members were pronounced dead from stab wounds.

Detectives said the bodies were discovered when police responded to the residence for the welfare check. That call is the point where the case moved from a family dispute into a homicide investigation with four deaths at one home.
Officials said Whiten and Hyer had separated years earlier and were co-parenting their daughters at the time of their deaths. Hyer finalized her divorce in March.
Melanie Hyer’s work and family
Hyer was originally from Manhasset, New York, and worked as a probate real estate agent in South Florida. She specialized in luxury waterfront and commercial properties and appeared as an industry expert on multiple news outlets throughout her career.
Whiten’s ex-wife described the relationship between Whiten and Hyer as toxic for years. She said, “He was always so sweet with his girls and loved them deeply. I don’t know what happened.”

Both girls were students at Downtown Doral Elementary and members of the Doral Field Hockey team. A Catholic mass in remembrance of Hyer and her two daughters was being held Friday night.
