Senior TT Red-Flagged on Lap 2 in Isle Of Man Tt Delay
The isle of man tt delay reached the Senior TT on Monday evening, and the race was red-flagged on the second lap after a day already slowed by stoppages. It had been scheduled to start at 18:15 local time, but the program had been stretched before the Senior TT even got away.
Harrison Leads Before The Stop
Dean Harrison had built a 12-second lead after the opening lap, and at one stage he was 15 seconds clear of Peter Hickman before the interruption. Harrison had just passed through Ramsey when the red flag came out, leaving the fifth race of the week unfinished after only two laps.
The Senior TT was being run over four laps instead of the usual six, a cut that came after racing had not taken place since Tuesday. Only the Supersport class ran that day, and it was reduced to a three-lap distance, which left the week already shortened before the Senior TT began.
Michael Dunlop’s Double Win
Michael Dunlop had already won both the Supersport and Sportbike races earlier on the same day, giving him a 37th TT win in the week’s reduced program. Brookes also caught and passed Dunlop on the road during the Senior TT, while Dunlop was 18 seconds adrift after taking a while to pass David Johnson at Schoolhouse.
The same afternoon carried more disruption before the Sportbike race, when a further delay followed a road traffic collision on the mountain road earlier in the morning. The schedule had already been pushed back by one hour before the Senior TT began.
Senior TT’s Recent Winners
The race also carried a late-season edge because it had not run since 2024. Davey Todd won the Senior TT that year, while Peter Hickman took it in 2023, and Harrison’s pace before the stoppage put him among the riders shaping the event before the red flag cut it short.
For riders and teams, the immediate consequence was simple: the Senior TT did not reach the finish on the day it was due to start, and the already reduced four-lap distance never got a chance to play out. The result left the race program compressed again after a week in which delays had already reshaped the order of events.
