Last Urges Hull FC to Swing at Warrington — Wolves Vs Hull Fc

Hull FC head to warrington wolves with Andy Last telling his side they have nothing to lose in wolves vs hull fc on Friday night. The interim head coach wants a response at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as Hull try to end three successive defeats and keep their top-six push alive from ninth position.

Last Targets Warrington

Last, set for his fifth game in interim charge, was direct about the mindset he wants. “We've got nothing to lose,” he said ahead of the match at Warrington Wolves.

He pushed that point further by challenging Hull to go after the game rather than retreat into caution. “Everyone thinks we're going to get hammered, so it'll be great for the boys to actually go out there and put in a strong performance and make everyone eat their words.”

That is the frame Hull are taking into a match many pundits expect Warrington to win comfortably. Hull are facing Warrington for the first time this season, and the trip gives Last another test of whether the group can turn short bursts of spirit into a result.

Halliwell Jones Stadium Test

Warrington will be led by Sam Burgess, while Hull’s long-term coaching picture already has Steve McNamara set for 2027 and beyond. Last said that makes the week unusual, but he was focused on the opposition in front of him.

“It's a unique situation for both clubs, but Steve is not the head coach. I'm more worried about Sam,” he said. He also said, “I won't speak too much about Steve and the job that he's going to do here, out of respect to Warrington, but I'm sure Steve will be doing his work along with Sam to try and pick out the deficiencies in our performances and we're certainly trying to do the same to them.”

The challenge for Hull is to make their plan last for 80 minutes. Last said, “There's still a belief in the group and we feel as though we've got a plan, which, if we execute for the 80 minutes, we can cause Warrington some problems.”

Hull FC’s Response

Last pointed to the team’s showing at Leigh as proof there is still something to work with. “There was a lot of spirit from us (at Leigh) and I love the fact that we celebrated the wins and we tried to attack the game in a real positive mindset,” he said.

That leaves Hull with a clear task: turn spirit into points. They need wins quickly if they are serious about making the six, and Friday night gives them a direct chance to change the tone against a side many expect to control the night.
