Passengers felt the delay on the ground as well as in the air. One traveler called it a “horrible day in DFW,” and passengers on American Airlines flight AA777 from Las Vegas waited hours for their bags.

The traveler said 50 passengers were left in the dark at baggage claim after the bags were not unloaded from the plane. That baggage delay added another layer to a day already marked by canceled departures, arriving flights held up by the ground stop, and a schedule that kept slipping into the next day.
Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and American Airlines announced additional disruptions on Wednesday. The carrier had also faced another weather-related ground stop at its major hub last month, leaving its busiest operation exposed again when thunderstorms hit North Texas.
