A friend of the couple said last week that “Peter and Harry haven’t spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn’t been invited.” That lines up with the bluntest part of Harry’s view: “He says it’s obvious William has pressured Peter to take sides.”
Harry also said, “As far as Harry is concerned, the only possible reason for Peter to snub him is pressure from William.” He added that he is hurt by the cut-off but does not blame Peter, saying William “likes to throw his weight around.”
2018 and 2024
Peter was at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding at St George's Chapel in Windsor, a detail that makes the exclusion harder to read as routine family pruning. Harry said, “Peter was at his wedding and he was at Peter’s first wedding,” which is now the clearest comparison point inside the family.
Peter’s own comments in 2024 point in the opposite direction from Harry’s accusation. In a Sky News Australia interview, he described William and Kate as a “fantastic team” and called Kate “remarkable,” which fits the sense that he has grown closer to William in recent years.
Cotswolds guest list
The wedding itself is set up as an intimate celebration of family and friends, with Queen Camilla, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Mike Tindall, Edward and Sophie, and Zara Tindall expected among the guests. That leaves the missing couple as the notable omission, especially after Harry met his father for the first time in 19 months last September and is believed not to have spoken to most of his family since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
For Harry, the practical reading is simple: the guest list has become another family ledger, and this one puts William’s influence at the center. For everyone else on it, the wedding now carries the older story of the brothers’ split as much as the newer one of Peter and Harriet Sperling’s marriage.
