Saratoga Springs orders Level 3 evacuation as Saratoga Springs Fire grows
A vegetation fire dubbed the saratoga springs fire broke out Saturday near the Saratoga Springs Temple in Utah, and Saratoga Springs issued a Level 3 evacuation order for Mahogany Street. That order means people have to leave immediately.
WatchDuty said the fire was 5 miles west of Mahogany St and Roman Street, had reached 2 acres, and was moving rapidly. Smoke from the blaze could be seen from Eagle Mountain, about 11.2 miles away.
Saratoga Springs Temple area
Eagle Mountain's government said Unified Fire Authority crews were responding to a wildfire located south of Silverlake and west of the Saratoga Springs Temple. The same statement said no structures were threatened and no evacuations were necessary at that time, while asking residents to avoid the area and give crews space to work.
Saratoga Springs Fire Rescue said there was “a brush fire on the north side of Lake Mountain west of the LDS Temple” and said it would provide updates as more information became available. The response on scene focused on structure protection.
Mahogany Street evacuation
The evacuation order applies to Mahogany Street, where residents were told to leave immediately. One person described the fire’s location as “South of Ridley's, West of the temple,” while another wrote, “We live in Silverlake. We went outside and I now smell like i have been camping. Everyone stay safe!”
Other posts described high wind, with one person writing, “This wind is not helping,” and another saying, “Seems to be spreading...” Another post read, “Massive fire in Eagle Mountain? This started about 5 minutes ago, fire trucks haven’t gotten to it yet and doesn’t look like they know how. Very very close to homes.”
By Saturday, the practical divide was already visible: one local area was ordered out, while Eagle Mountain said structures were not threatened and no evacuations were needed there. Residents near Mahogany Street had the clearest instruction in the fire’s first hours — leave immediately and stay away from the response area.
