São Paulo Pride Draws Green, Yellow Crowds — The Day

On the day of São Paulo's 30th LGBT+ Pride Parade, large crowds filled Paulista Avenue in the morning wearing green and yellow. The colors of Brazil's flag stood out across the event as participants linked them to the World Cup and opposition to Bolsonarism.

The parade began on Paulista Avenue on Sunday, June 7, 2026, and the national colors were visible throughout the crowd. Organizers did not ask people to wear green and yellow, but many chose them anyway. Event promoter Thauan Libarino said, "I'm proud to be Brazilian and of our culture," a remark that fit the day’s public display of national colors.

Matheus Emílio On Participation

Speeches at the parade criticized the far right, declining sponsorships, and the lack of support for candidates who defend LGBTQIA+ causes. Parade director Matheus Emílio said the celebration is always open to representatives of the executive and legislative branches regardless of ideology, and he described the event as one of the city's major cultural landmarks.

Nunes And Freitas Absent

Mayor Ricardo Nunes and Governor Tarcísio de Freitas did not attend the event. Their absence matched the limited institutional presence noted at the parade, while the crowd’s message remained centered on the colors, the political speeches, and the call for support inside electoral politics.
