Agnes Ngetich Wins Nyrr Mini 10K In 30:07 Record
Agnes Ngetich won nyrr's 2026 Mastercard New York Mini 10K in 30:07, and she did it in her debut at the race. The time set a new event record and gave her the fastest women's 10K ever run on American soil.
More than 10,000 women finished the race for the first time in its 54-year history. That pushed the event, which began in 1972 with 72 finishers, into a new participation mark on the same morning Ngetich broke through at the front.
Ngetich’s 30:07 debut
Ngetich came into Saturday with the 10K world record of 28:46 and still controlled the race from start to finish. Her 30:07 was enough to shatter the Mini 10K record on a day when the field also produced a record turnout behind her.
The result added another line to a race that already carried a long history. The Mastercard New York Mini 10K started as the world's original women-only road race, and this edition paired its biggest finishing field with its fastest winning performance on American soil.
McFadden and Venters at Nyrr
Tatyana McFadden earned her first-ever Mini 10K title in the professional wheelchair division. She already owns six TCS New York City Marathon titles and three United Airlines NYC Half titles, so the win extended an already deep New York résumé.
Emily Venters was the top American finisher in the open division. Her result added a domestic benchmark to a race that otherwise belonged to Ngetich and the women who pushed the finish total past 10,000 for the first time.
Girls Run on Saturday
Nearly 600 girls took part in the 10th running of the Girls Run on Saturday. Their numbers added another layer to a race day that showed growth at every level, from the headline winner to the largest finishing field in the event's history.
For runners entering this race in future years, the standard is now clear: the Mini 10K has a new record holder, a new participation high, and a winning time that reset what the course can produce.
