Pelicans Target Jaylen Brown in Celtics Giannis Trade Proposal

The celtics giannis trade proposal has New Orleans in the middle of one of the summer’s loudest early trade talks. The Pelicans are deeply interested in Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics superstar and Finals MVP, and are preparing a push that could reshape both rosters.

Brown Enters New Orleans Talks

Jake L. Fischer reported that New Orleans has officially emerged as a team seriously pursuing Brown. The Pelicans are taking an aggressive stance in discussions, which is the first clear sign that a major offseason reshuffle could go beyond routine roster tinkering.

The reported offer framework centers on Dejounte Murray, Trey Murphy III, and significant draft capital. That is the core of the deal path now sitting in front of New Orleans if it decides Brown is worth the price.

Fears, Queen, and Zion Williamson

Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen are the two players the Pelicans are said to be keeping completely off limits, and both made the Kia NBA All-Rookie Second Team. That leaves New Orleans willing to discuss other pieces while protecting two young players it values enough to keep out of the talks.

A team source added a sharper edge to the Pelicans’ thinking around Zion Williamson: “The Pelicans prefer to keep Zion, but they aren’t married to him if they can offload him.” That line puts Williamson in a different place than the two rookies, even as the franchise’s preferred path is still to hold on to him.

Salary Chips for New Orleans

Jordan Poole, Jordan Hawkins, and Kevon Looney are also being used as expiring salary-matching chips in upcoming negotiations. All three have dropped out of the team’s primary rotation, which gives New Orleans extra moving parts if it pushes harder for Brown.

The Pelicans entered the offseason with plans for a major roster reshuffle, and this pursuit fits that direction. If New Orleans follows through, the real decision is no longer whether it can add a star; it is whether the combination of Murray, Murphy, draft capital, and matching salary is enough to get Brown out of Boston.
