Daniels Charged in Oakland Felony Murder of Lartey Solomon
Shacory Carnell Daniels was charged Monday with felony murder in oakland in the May 31 killing of Lartey Solomon. Prosecutors said Solomon, 33, was walking to his car near 14th and Harrison streets when Daniels allegedly tried to rob him and shot him during the encounter.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office filed the charge as the case moves toward a June 30 plea hearing for Daniels. Records from Santa Rita Jail also show he is being held on allegations of dissuading a witness, pimping, shooting at an unoccupied vehicle, and evading police.
Lartey Solomon And Daniels
Solomon worked as a registered nurse for Alameda Health System and Kindred Hospital in San Leandro. A GoFundMe page created in his memory says he was born and raised in Ghana before immigrating to the United States, and that he was known on TikTok as “Nurse Solomon” to thousands of followers.
The fundraising page says Solomon leaves behind a daughter. It also says, “The loss of Lartey has left an unimaginable void in our hearts” and “A daughter has lost her father, parents have lost their son, siblings have lost their brother, and countless others have lost a trusted Health Educator, Caregiver, Mentor, and Friend.”
May 31 Near 14th And Harrison
The charging decision turns the May 31 killing into a formal murder prosecution tied to an attempted robbery in downtown Oakland. Prosecutors said Solomon encountered Daniels near 14th and Harrison streets before the shooting.
The case also carries older allegations for Daniels. In 2018, Daniels and an alleged accomplice were shot by Fremont police after authorities said they rammed patrol vehicles during an arrest on suspicion of a series of auto burglaries.
June 30 Plea Hearing
Daniels is due in court for a plea hearing on June 30. The homicide charge and the jail allegations place the case on two tracks: the murder prosecution over Solomon’s death and the separate custody issues listed in jail records.
For Solomon’s family, the next court date is the first public step after Monday’s charge. For Oakland, the case now moves from a street killing to a felony murder prosecution built around the alleged robbery attempt that ended his life.
