Rotary Club of Durham sets Flag Day 2026 celebration at Hub RTP

The Rotary Club of Durham will host a free flag day 2026 celebration on Saturday, June 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Hub RTP. The public event at 300 Park Offices Dr in Research Triangle Park will honor veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, educators and other local heroes.

The short program brings several parts together in one morning. It will include a field full of American flags, a tribute to fallen Durham County veterans, a flag ceremony by the Hillside High School Junior ROTC and patriotic music from the Riverside High School Choir.

Hub RTP on June 14

For people planning to attend, the event is free and open to the public. The Rotary Club of Durham has set the celebration for a 45-minute window, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., at Hub RTP in Research Triangle Park.

The location and timing make the program straightforward for families and community members who want to stop in for part or all of the observance. Because the celebration is short and scheduled, arriving near the start gives attendees the full program, including the flag ceremony and the choir performance.

Durham heroes and local veterans

The tribute list is broad. Organizers say the celebration will recognize veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, educators and other local heroes, along with fallen Durham County veterans.

Community leaders and local veterans will give remarks, adding voices from both civic and military service. Local Rotary Interact students will also offer reflections on America's 250th Anniversary, giving the program a direct link to the next generation of participants.

Flags for Heroes at Durham

Flags for Heroes is also a fundraising project. Funds raised through the effort support local nonprofits and charitable causes throughout Durham and the Triangle area.

The event’s public invitation gives residents a clear option if they want to attend the ceremony in person: go to Hub RTP on Saturday morning, join the free observance, and take part in a program built around flags, music, student reflections and remarks from community voices.
