Corey Hall Faces Six Weeks Out as Trinity Vs Warriors Loom

Corey Hall is facing up to six weeks out after the ankle injury he suffered in trinity vs warriors buildup from Wakefield Trinity's win over Hull KR last weekend. The 23-year-old centre has ligament damage, and Wakefield now head into Friday night with more selection problems before meeting Wigan Warriors at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.

Hall's ankle setback

Daryl Powell said Hall suffered a syndesmosis injury early in the game and is not set to need an operation. He added that the scan showed a decent injury and that the centre is likely to be out for maybe six weeks.

That timeline removes a regular option from a side that has been sitting third in Super League with nine wins from 13 matches. Wakefield are two points off leaders Leeds Rhinos, so the absence lands in the middle of a tight run rather than in a comfortable stretch.

Wakefield's selection squeeze

Hall is not the only problem. Mason Lino is missing with a calf issue, Jazz Tevaga is suspended, and Josh Rourke and Olly Pratt remain injury doubts.

Powell said, "We had everybody training last week, and then you go into one game and a few things happen, and it is what it is," and added, "Mason [Lino] has done a calf. They're not sure of the timescales on that but we've got a couple of late fitness tests as well and Jazz gets suspended, so it's a little bit challenging."

He also pointed to the wider squad, saying, "We have a squad for a reason, and we've got players who are coming back into the team who I know are ready to play and are high-quality players."

Wigan at DIY Kitchens Stadium

The visit from sixth-placed Wigan comes in round 14, halfway through the regular season, with Wakefield still in range at the top. Their response on Friday night will be shaped less by Hall's injury alone than by how many of the late fitness tests clear in time.
