Ben James Debuts at Rbc Canadian Open Leaderboard After No. 1 Finish

Virginia coach Bowen Sargent said, “He’s the best ball-striker I’ve ever seen,” and added, “I’ve never once seen him have a bad ball-striking day, not once in four years.” Fellow 2026 PGA TOUR University class member Bryan Lee said, “He’s week-in and week-out the best ball striker I’ve ever played with,” while James has also worked with Bob Rotella, saying, “I can’t thank him enough for how much he’s helped me and hopefully we can continue our relationship onto the next level,”
RBC Canadian Open Debut
The move from college golf to the PGA TOUR is immediate for James, and the field this week gives him his first look at life with full TOUR status through 2027. He already arrived with a junior résumé too, winning the 2021 Junior PLAYERS Championship and finishing his junior career ranked No. 1 nationally by the American Junior Golf Association and Golfweek.
